BUSINESS SUPPORT PROGRAMME FOR BULGARIA, ROMANIA, CROATIA AND TURKEY (BSP III) PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 29 January 2010 06:44

The programme is focussed around Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Turkey considering their accession process. Therefore, this programme and this call does not involve the other Western Balkan countries, since such an exercise is considered as too early and would need to be covered by another assistance programme. However, it is envisaged that in the near future similar actions may be created under the new Instrument for Pre-Accession covering as well the other Western Balkan countries.

Nevertheless, applicants may of course involve partners from the other Western Balkan countries in for instance workshops and seminars, as associates.

The understanding behind the BSP is that the EU acquis has to be applied by a wide variety of organisations and economic operators at business and civil level in the Beneficiary Countries in addition to their national administrative bodies. The programme is an institution building facility assisting the operation of BROs and spreading their acquaintance on the acquis. As accession gets closer, it is key for its success to ensure that the implementation of the EU legislation follows a global approach whereby economic actors are also supported in implementing and benefiting from the internal market acquis.

The BSP will support industrial sectors greatly concerned by the mentioned acquis areas. As such this BSP will not cover agriculture sector since extensive funding is being provided to this sector under National Programmes (notably SAPARD) and since this will be a specific component under the new Instrument for Pre-Accession.
