8.1.      STATISTICAL INFO ABOUT EXTERNAL TRADE OF THE EU

‘Where is statistical info available about import and export of goods in the European Union?’

The section ‘Trade Statistics’ at the Export Helpdesk provides trade data (exports and imports) for the EU and its individual Member States.

How to find statistics?

Step 1:   Enter a product code (e.g. ‘7402’) or search a relevant code

Step 2:   Select a reporting country (e.g. ‘EUR 27’ = all EU States)

Step 3:   Select a partner country (e.g. ‘All partners’)

Step 4:   Select a year (e.g. ‘2007’)

Step 5:   Select indicators, e.g.

Step 6:   Click on ‘View’ and consult the table

Intra- and extra-EU trade - Monthly data - Combined Nomenclature

This DVD-ROM is published monthly. It contains statistics of trade of member states (27 countries), classifications of countries and products, methodological notes, notes on the state of data availability and the user manual. In addition, it includes the Europroms data (European production and market statistics).

Example:             When will the next toys fair take place in Nurnberg, Germany?

Step 1:   login to the website of M+A Expo Database (click on the link above)

Step 2:   select ‘Advanced search’

Step 3:   select ‘toys’ in the box below ‘Sector of business’

Step 4:   insert ‘Nurnberg’ in the box below ‘City’

Step 5:   select ‘Germany’ in the box below ‘Country’

Step 6:   select a time frame (‘date from’ + ‘date to’) within which the trade fair should take place

Step 7:   click on ‘SEARCH’

Step 8:   view the result

The result shows the titles and dates of selected trade fairs. More detailed info on organizers is available only after registration on the site which is not free of charge
